- Decoding-Us (yDNA-Warehouse) (Haplogroup-R)
An ad-hoc, like most other, Haplogroup determination and phylogenetic tree development activity. Significant is that they have moved away from their FTDNA project root / start and now collect WGS BAM file submissions to form a repository and independent analysis of both yDNA and mtDNA. They provide access to the database for other researchers via an API as needed. A key feature of the new system is providing their own Rust-language based bioinformatics pipeline available to run locally and using the AT-Protocol from BlueSky to let users keep their data on their server.
This activity started as Haplogroup-R and grew from there out of the need to move beyond VCF files by Alex Williamson's ytree effort and needing the technology to capture and store the files; for possible reworking results to new, later Genome Build models down the road. The yDNA Warehouse was the intermediate step in the evolution before the current rendition. This is not to be confused with the Haplogroup pages within the yDNA Groupings used to categorize sub-groups there.
